Preparing for a party for the Big Game? Football season is back! You know how I love to fancy things up and add my personal style to everything I do. Style isn’t just about the clothes you wear or how you decorate your home. I also put style into how I serve my favorite treats. So today, I’m here to show you how to make your game time grub fancy in a four simple ways.

Game time grub doesn’t have to be fancy to look fancy. With game viewing parties that can run each week, it can be tiring (and costly) to make everything from scratch and make recipes that take hours to do. Just imagine slaving in the kitchen for hours each week. That’s no fun. You host these game viewing parties to enjoy the game. So spend less time in the kitchen and more with family and friends! I go for the usual game time grub that’s easy to make yet tasty. It can be your usual fries, veggie sticks, hotdogs, burgers and buns. Easy and good. Serve them in cake trays and glass dishes instead of the usual ball-themed servers to make everything fancy for your Game Time Grub bar or tablescape. Here are 4 ways you can do this.

1. Make Fries Fancy in a Cone

I love fries. Who doesn’t? Plus, it’s perfect to munch on when watching the Big Game. But how to make fries the easy way? Try Alexia fries! Alexia sweet potato fries are easy to prepare. Just put them in a tray and pop in the oven for about 20-25 minutes and you’ve got tasty and crunchy fries. No need to cut, season and deep fry. Mind you, they taste so good. But to show I made an effort somehow (haha), I served them in some fancy cones.

All you need to do is:

  1. Prepare your Alexia fries according to package directions.
  2. Grab a candle holder like this one that I got from Walmart or any metal ring you can find at home. You can also try cupcake holders. If not, vases or drinking glasses can also do the trick. Just place them in a tray to keep them bunched up in place.
  3. Create paper cones. I used ordinary white card stock paper. I was planning to stamp some gold dots, which you can also do. But I saw these white tulle rounds at Walmart’s wedding party planning section that had gold dot glitters in them. I simply rolled them up together with the white card stock and taped the ends to secure. You can also use a stapler.
  4. I placed square paper towels inside before filling it up with fries. Place the cones in your holder and you’ve got fries in a cone!

2. Create Fancy Dips for Everything

Instead of the usual condiments, how about creating various fancy dips to up your entertaining game? These 3 dips are perfect for anything – for your Alexia fries, for your veggie tray, and even for your hotdogs and burger buns. Again, if you’re serving easy or ready-made dishes, at least show your guests you did something from scratch (even if it’s this easy). Check out the 3 dips below and how to make them. The French Onion and Garlic and Chives dips are all made from scratch, while the Cheesy Ranch dip is a bonus for those who don’t have much time to prepare!

French Onion Dip Recipe

  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayo
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • salt and pepper to taste

  1. In a medium sauce pan, melt butter then add the chopped onion in medium to low heat.
  2. Saute onion until it’s brown and caramelized. Then add the garlic and stir until golden brown.
  3. Remove from heat and let it completely cool.
  4. Mix the rest of the ingredients and then pour and mix the cooled onion and garlic.
  5. Chill for an hour before serving.

Garlic & Chives Dip Recipe

  • 2 cups Greek Yogurt
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp chives
  • salt and pepper to taste

  1. In a mixing bowl, mix all the ingredients.
  2. Chill for 30 minutes before serving.

Cheesy Ranch Dip Recipe

  • 16 oz sour cream
  • 1-2 tbsp of grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 sachet of your favorite ranch mix

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Transfer to your serving dish!

3. Create Labels for Dips and Serve in Unexpected Ways

I love to serve dips in unexpected ways. But I also want some practical ways to serve it. Here’s how I served my three dips and how I made them look fancy.

All you need to do is:

  1. Grab some squeeze bottles (these were from Walmart) and print this free printable for the labels. Get a double-sided tape (or regular tape) and tape the labels into the squeeze bottles.
  2. You can use a plain glass dish for dips with solid pieces (like the onions).
  3. Do the same with the glass dish by taping the label outside the dish too.

Make it fancy by adding a gold or decorated serving spoon to the dip dish. Make use of fancy cupcake liners for guests to put their dips on.

4. Serve Fruit-Infused Water

Now there’s a fancy way to serve water than the usual water bottles or pitcher. Got left-over fruit in the fridge and don’t know what to do with them? Well how about making fruit-infused water. Lemon is a popular choice and for good reason. Drinking water with a bit of lemon has a lot of healthy benefits including keeping the kidneys healthy, maintaining the body’s pH level, and giving you some Vitamin C. But of course, you can use other fruits like orange, peach, strawberry or even cucumber.

All you need to do is:

  1. Print and cut these labels from this free printable.
  2. Cut slices of fruit.
  3. Insert them in fancy water jars filled with water. Chill for at least 2 hours.
  4. Tie up your labels into the fruit-infused water jars and serve.

And if you want something fancier than water, you can also try these Mint Julep Mocktails. Yes, no alcohol means everyone can drink it, even the kids!

Now set up everything on a table, bar or counter, and tell your family and friends to dig in. It’s time to grab some grub and get ready for the Big Game!

If you’re ready to create a fancy Game Time Grub bar or tablescape of your own, you can grab all the materials I used here from Walmart. It’s also where you will find the Alexia sweet potato fries. Find them in the frozen aisle and check out the other variants while you’re at it.
